A youth leader from Abonnema, in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Kikis Briggs Tubokikiba, has tipped Felix Obuah, current sole administrator of the Rivers State Wastes Management Agency, RIWAMA, as the proper person to take over as the next governor of the state.
The PDP faithful said Obuah had performed optimally as the RIWAMA boss and had left a lasting legacy, hence, should be the next governor of the state.
But a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Senior Apostle Gabriel Amaewhule says Obuah is incompetent and cannot govern the state, considering his poor outing at RIWAMA, having not been able to manage wastes in the state capital.
According to Tubokikiba, “Felix Obuah is even over qualified, looking at the whole aspirants from APC to PDP, I think we have counted up-to 30 aspirants in the state, trying to run for this same office, we have not seen his match, from the APC and from the PDP.
“This call is not just a call from him, it is a call from the Rivers State indigenes, citizens, asking Bro Felix Obuah to contest as the next governor of Rivers State come 2023.”
He described as ordinary, the allegation that Obuah’s legacies were heaps of refuse across the state, saying “those allegations are mere allegations that anybody can use against anybody. From 2015 till date, Obuah has always carried out his job in the state as to make sure that Rivers State is clean, it is the responsibility of every individual to keep your environment clean.
“The RIWAMA boss has tried, he has also done his best to make sure that the state is clean, remember that there is an embargo that every citizen should keep their waste somewhere, they gave them a point to drop them, when, time and where, but you see that we are this type of people that will just do everywhere dirty and at the end of the day we think that government must do everything for us, government cannot do everything for us, you must keep your environment clean and then when you litter the whole street you start pointing finger at the RIWAMA boss, okay, are they expecting the RIWAMA boss to come and clean even their own house?
“We are not kids, we should emulate the western people; you cannot keep your environment dirty, government cannot do everything for you. Obuah in his time has really tried, they should learn how to carry out instructions and orders in the society, they shouldn’t be littering the street of Port Harcourt and pointing finger.
“My message is that they should learn how to keep their environment clean, Nigerians are too dirty. Speaking of what makes Obuah most qualified of all the aspirants in the state, he said “he has the capacity. When I mean he has the capacity, like I just said, the call wasn’t from him, the call came from Rivers State indigenes, seeing him worthy to serve them come 2023, so, he is this man that can carry every form of administrative offices properly, as to better the lives of every Rivers man and woman.”
But Amaewhule in countering that position said, “speaking of Felix Obuah, he has not done anything in Rivers State as regards to the appointment as RIWAMA boss, Rivers State is not as clean as it was before his inception as RIWAMA boss, presently, it could be known, noticed and agreed that Rivers State is polluted with refuse heaps, dust bin all over, so I have not seen any legacy than the refuse heaps that he has kept in Rivers State.

“As we speak, the whole state of Port Harcourt, go to Rukpokwu, you will see it along the road, go to stadium road, come to Rumuapu, you will see heaps of refuse, heaps, come to Eneka junction, all over the state is polluted with dust bin, smelling, flies perching people, causing more mosquitoes, he has created more mosquitoes in Rivers State than we had before he came, so he should go and manage the money that he has stolen out of Wike, let him use it for other things, for now, he is not competent, we don’t need such.”
