In an effort to flush out criminals, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, is seeking collaboration with members of the public.

Adepoju in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, on Friday, urged residents to collaborate with police by reporting suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station or via the command’s emergency hotlines.

The CP charged members of the public to remain law-abiding, even as he gave the assurance that the command remained steadfast in its mission to maintain law and order.

Adepoju who also wished all workers in the state a safe and productive Workers’ Day celebration, explained that, “in strict adherence to the strategic directives issued by the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Rivers State Police command, under the proactive leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Olugenga Adewole Adepoju, has initiated a comprehensive security saturation across the state.

“This move is aimed at ensuring a peaceful, secure, and celebratory atmosphere as the nation marks the 2026 International Workers’ Day.

“Recognizing the significance of this occasion, the commissioner of police has ordered the immediate and large-scale deployment of police officers and undercover operatives to every nook and cranny of the state.

“This robust security architecture is specifically designed to preempt any potential breach of peace and to safeguard the lives and property of the industrious citizens of Rivers State.”

He also noted that “strategic assets have been mobilized to provide a formidable presence at rally venues, parks, critical infrastructure, and major highways.

“The command’s operational plan includes intensified patrols, surveillance, and stop-and-search operations to deter criminal elements who might seek to exploit the festivities for nefarious activities.”

Further the police commissioner charged all area commanders, divisional police officers DPOs, and violent crime response unit VCRU, commanders, to maintain the highest level of professional alertness and to ensure that the fundamental rights of citizens are respected while performing their duties.

He assured that “the command is resolute in its commitment to providing a “hitch-free” environment, ensuring that the labor force can celebrate their contributions to national development without fear or intimidation.”
