The Rivers State Police Command has arrested 22-year old Bright Williams for allegedly luring and kidnapping one Mr. Adele Emmanuel, who he purportedly invited from Delta State to Port Harcourt, through social media for a non-existing job offer.
Spokesperson of the command, Nnamdi Omoni while parading the suspect alongside eight others disclosed that the victim was held hostage and kept in a hotel at Obeama, in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state.
He added that the police operatives stormed the area, rescued the victim and arrested the prime suspect Bright Williams, the director of the hotel and a female staff.
While speaking with newsmen, the victim Adele alleged that he was lured from Delta State to come for the position of secretary in a job he applied online. He disclosed that on arrival in Port Harcourt he was kidnapped by his supposed prospective employers and stripped naked.
He continued that they made video record of him and sent to his family demanding 20,000 dollars ransom, before he was rescued by men of anti-kidnapping unit of the police in the state, led by CSP Edward Shadare.
In his part, the accused claimed the victim contacted them through a homosexual hook up site demanding to be linked to a homosexual.
He said they lured the victim with the intention of extorting money from his family, adding that he was not aware the amount of money the gang leader demanded from the alleged victim.
Williams further exonerated the director of the hotel and the female staff of any complicity in the crime.
