Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria PMAN, National Headquarters has announced the appointment of a new caretaker committee to lead the affairs of PMAN, Rivers State chapter.
The appointment which was contained in a letter by the national president, Pretty Okafor and general secretary, Elizabeth Khara Gabriel Esq, announced Mercy Reginald Otuene popularly known as Sista Mercie as the new Administrator of PMAN Rivers State, and Mr John Egwim Nwokorie (Jahbest), as State Secretary.
Other appointments include: Uchi Willy Thompson (Utunee) as Deputy Administrator, Victor Effiong (Maestro Vic) as Public Relations Officer, Dr. Joy Nwenenda Nwachukwu (Joyblissful) as Treasurer, Ukot Flag Prince (Flag P) as Financial Secretary, Mr Joseph Worlu as Welfare Officer I, Asinye Brown as Provost I, and Augustine Obari Gomba (G1) as Provost II.
According to the letter, “the appointments followed recent court rulings affirming the authority of the national
president over the property and assets of PMAN, and pursuant to Article 11(M) and Article 14 of the PMAN Constitution.
“The appointment was issued in line and fully backed by the NEC Resolution of 16th October 2025, empowering the national president and national secretariat to dissolve, reorganise, or reconstitute any state
chapter where instability, leadership vacuums, or parallel activities threaten the lawful operations of PMAN.”
The new PMAN caretaker committee were further tasked to de-escalate crisis, guard against inflammatory communication, reduce tension, as well as prioritise reconciliation, peace and unity amongst entertainers and stakeholders across all PMAN structures within the state.
Meanwhile, National President of PMAN, Pretty Okafor has called on the state government, security agencies and stakeholders to corporate and work with the new leadership of PMAN in the State.
Okafor warned against any dealing with unauthorized persons she described as impostors parading as officials of PMAN Rivers State chapter.
Her words, “my dear fellow musicians in Rivers State, I am Pretty Okafor, the only constitutionally recognised national president of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria – PMAN.
“Let me on behalf of the National leadership of PMAN, congratulate the newly appointed leadership of PMAN in Rivers State, led by Mercy Reginald as Administrator, and John Jahbest as State Secretary.
“On this note, I call on the good people of Rivers State, Rivers State Government, all corporate institutions, government agencies and all musicians, to disassociate themselves from unauthorised Mozy B fake PMAN leadership in Rivers State.
“Therefore, Mercy Reginald and John Jahbest are the only authorised and supported by PMAN national headquarters, to oversee the affairs of PMAN in Rivers State.
“As a matter of urgency, Mozy B is hereby directed to handover all PMAN belongings to the newly appointed leadership.
“Today marks a new beginning for all musicians in Nigeria; our victory in the court is a victory for all musicians.”
