PDP Govs, Leaders Wake Up, Take Party Back

Determined to strengthen party unity and ensure strict adherence to the party’s constitution, nine state governors from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, have insisted that Iliya Damagum’s suspension from his role as acting national chairman, takes immediate effect.
This is following their collective endorsement for Damagum’s suspension during a virtual meeting, last weekend.
Also, the governors unanimously approved the appointment of the PDP National Treasurer, Alhaji Yayari Ahmed Alaghi, as the new acting national chairman.
This was disclosed in a statement by an aide to one of the nine governors who attended the meeting, endorsed Damagum’s suspension and approved Alaghi’s appointment.
The governors were, Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Senator Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori of Delta State.
Other were, the governors of Taraba State, Mr. Agbu Kefas, Zamfara State-Mr. Dauda Lawal, Enugu State- Peter Mbah, Osun State- Ademola Adeleke and Akwa Ibom State-Pastor Umo Eno.
The PDP governors assured that they will continue to dialogue between party stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.
According to them, Damagum’s suspension and Alaghi’s appointment were aimed at reinforcing internal cohesion within the PDP. Also, to strengthen party unity and ensure strict adherence to the party’s constitution.
The governors further reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the PDP’s constitution and resolving internal conflicts through formal party channels while emphasizing their dedication to the party’s progress.
