Otu’s Supreme Court Victory A Healing Balm, Says Bereaved C’River APC Chair

Cross River State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba, has described governor Bassey Otu’s victory at the Supreme Court as a healing balm.

Eba stated this shortly after the apex court’s judgment that affirmed the election of the APC gubernatorial candidate in the just concluded election, as the governor of the state.

Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and its candidate, Sandy Onar had challenged the victory of the Cross River governor.

The Supreme Court while dismissing the appeal described it as a waste of judicial time and resources

In an interview with TNN, the state APC chairman who had just buried his father expressed satisfaction with the judgment which he said came at the most auspicious time.

Eba said “I want to give God all the glory. It came at the most auspicious time; nothing could be more consoling after the death of my father than this cheering news of a victory we so worked for, worked so hard for and the PDP and their candidate; the governorship and deputy governorship decided to take us in another stressful journey. But we give God all the glory that everything has ended today.

“It’s a victory for all Cross Riverians. There is no victor there is no vanquish. Political opponents should learn to accept defeat. Those in opposition must learn to know that it is the interest of law that there must be an end to litigation.

“These matters were properly litigated at the Federal High Court in Calabar and the court of appeal. There was nothing new to go and prove by going back to the tribunal, taking us through the court of appeal and now to the Supreme Court. So we have been heavily distracted and like I said, again, to God be the glory.”

Eba added that the “governor will be now very fully focused, deliver on all his campaign promises for the benefit of Cross River State. We are happy, very happy indeed.”
