One Week After Becoming Gov, Otu Appoints Ex VC As SSG, NUJ Chair As CPS

Exactly one week after assumption of duties as governor of Cross River State, the state governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu on Monday named a former vice chancellor of the then Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH, Prof Anthony Owan Enoh as secretary to the state government.

The governor also named the current chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Abuja chapter, Emmanule Ogbeche, as his chief press secretary.

Emmanuel Ironbar was also named as the chief of staff, Government House. The three appointments had long been expected and the appointees are drawn from the three senatorial districts.

While the SSG, an elder brother to the 2019 governorship candidate of the APC in the state, Senator John Owan Enoh, is from the central, the CPS is from the north while the chief of staff is from the south.

The other appointments as announced by Dr Innocent Eteng, permanent secretary administration in the office of the SSG, are retired Major General Okoi Ubi Obono as state security adviser and Sylvester Otu Abang as acting state chief of protocol.

Also on Monday, Otu approved the appointment of Mr Charles Ikpeme and 20 others as chairman and members of the special task force on deforestation.
