With the ongoing construction of the Nembe-Brass Road, new frontiers of development have been opened for massive development in the the coastal area, says the Okpoama Council of Chiefs of the Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The ccouncil said in a communique that was signed by the chairman, High Chief Nathan Egba-Dienagha and the secretary, Chief Inenyo Yousuo-Ogbulu, at the end of their second scheduled meeting in 2025 at Okpoama.
For the boldness and political will to embark on the project, the council has commended the state governor, Senator Douye Diri. They said it could only take a man with bold initiative to construct the road through the swampy mangrove terrain.
The communique also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the construction of the second phase of the Nembe-Brass Road project by the Federal Government.
The Chiefs of the ancient Okpoama kingdom however, urged the construction company, All Infrastructure Limited, handling the second phase of the project to expedite the process for a seamless delivery of the Federal Government section of the road, in order to actualize the government’s plan for the area.
On the renovation and upgrading of the Okpoama Mission Jetty, they expressed appreciation to Governor Douye Diri, noting that the jetty was a safety hazard to the people of Okpoama prior to the state government’s intervention.
They, however, appealed to the good people of Okpoama Kingdom to continue to remain patient and steadfast, adding that all the issues currently plaguing the Kingdom would be resolved soon.
