The Rivers State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr. Moses Oleghe, has revealed the benefits of the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship department SAED programme, of the scheme.
Oleghe noted that one of the benefits of the SAED initiative was its ability to lift corps members out of poverty and offer them a platform for economic growth and prosperity.
The NYSC cord stated this on Tuesday when he flagged off the SAED programme for 2025 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise for corps members deployed to the state.
Oleghe advised them to “take very seriously the 10-day, 3 hours per day in-camp SAED training so as to fully benefit from the threshold of opportunities offered by SAED programme.
“The SAED programme is a deliberate, intentional, and far-reaching initiative of the NYSC top management designed to lift corps members out of poverty and offer them a platform for economic growth and prosperity.”
The NYSC coordinator further assured the corps members of the scheme’s partnership with regulatory bodies such as NAFDAC, CAC, and SON, amongst others, to help them register their businesses, while funding institutions such as the CBN, BOI, Eco, Wema, Unity, and Access banks were on ground to help them with start-up grants to start their businesses.

Earlier in her welcome remark, the SAED officer of the State, Mrs. Carol Chukwu, commended the coordinator over what she described as his overwhelming love and support for the SAED committee.
Chukwu enjoined the corps members to “make the right decision that will impact you positively tomorrow, by choosing to participate actively in the SAED in-camp training.”
