NIPR Key To Building Public Trust, Zone 16 AIG

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 16 Police Command, Mr. Abubakar Zubairu has underscored the importance of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to the police in building public trust.

The AIG who oversees Bayelsa and Rivers States commands, made the assertion when the Bayelsa State branch of the NIPR paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the zonal headquarters in Yenagoa.

While appreciating the delegation for the visit, he reaffirmed the zone’s commitment to working with the NIPR to strengthen public trust.

He added that both organisations would foster positive police-community relations and sustain effective communication that reflects the core values of the Nigeria police force.

During the visit, the NIPR delegation led by its State chairman, Dr Ebiwari Wariowei expressed its desire to partner with the zone 16 police command in promoting effective reputation management and strategic public engagement.

The delegation emphasized that such collaboration would contribute to enhancing public confidence and strengthening the image of the police.

Wariowei informed the AIG of NIPR’s forthcoming annual general meeting between November and December, 2026.

The delegation particularly acknowledged the contributions of the zone 16 Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Gunn Ewhoborwo, a professional member of the NIPR.

The visitors said Gunn’s wealth of experience in the public relations profession had played a significant role in enhancing the image and of the zonal command through strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and effective media relations.

The NIPR leadership noted that the zonal PPRO’s professionalism and expertise provided a solid platform for a productive partnership between the Institute and the police, promoting best practices in reputation management and institutional communication.
