As efforts intensify to rescue the abducted teachers and schoolchildren during a suspected terrorists attack in Oyo State last week, the Nigerian Military has revealed those who carried out the deadly operations.
According to a reliable source, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has stated that the recent abduction in Oyo State was allegedly executed by elements of Jama’at Ahl al-Sunna li-Da’wah wa’l-Jihad (JAS) who reportedly fled ongoing military pressure in Nigeria’s Northeast region.
The military explained that intelligence assessments suggest the attackers are remnants of insurgent groups displaced from Borno and Yobe states following sustained offensives under Operation Hadin Kai.
It added that these individuals are believed to have dispersed to other parts of the country after losing ground in their original areas.
The suspected terrorists who kidnapped schoolchildren and teachers from three schools in Esinele, Yamota and Alawusa towns in Oriire Local Government Area of the State are demanding direct talks with the state governor.
