A renowned socio-cultural pressure group in the oil rich Niger Delta region, has appealed to the governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara to partner with Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo to curb all forms of insecurity along Emohua/Degema Road in the state.
Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta MOSIEND World-wide, made this appeal following the robbery and kidnapping incidents on the said road.
The Pan Niger Delta group believe that the governor’s collaboration with Asari will complement the efforts of the security agencies in curbing insecurity in the area.
MOSIEND in a statement made available to TNN by its National Spokesman, Mr. Charles Omusuku urged Fubara to, “dialogue with his Ijaw brother Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo to further understand the dynamics around his security outfit in the state.”
Describing the governor as a peace maker, MOSIEND insisted that partnering with Asari would enhance unity, safety and progress of the State, as well as add tremendous value to the security architecture of the State.
The statement reads: “governor Siminalayi and Alhaji Asari Dokubo are illustrious sons we respect and love. We believe that the Ijaws and Rivers State will benefit a lot if they can work together. Today by God’s grace, the Ijaw man is in the saddle of leadership of the State and every other tribe is expecting a lot of democratic dividends and we shouldn’t give them less.
“The unity and cooperation of all Ijaws to the success of governor Siminialayi Fubara is vital and we must tolerate and manage our sentiment in issues of this nature. Fubara who we know is a man of peace and would not want anything to endanger Rivers citizens under his watch.
“The Degema Emohua Road which also host the satellite campus, Rivers State University RSU, has been a notorious playground for armed robbery, kidnappers and assassins, leading to the death of countless innocent Nigerians, such that the security agencies even find it difficult to contend with them at some point until the intervention of the Asari Dukobo security outfit.
“We as MOSIEND consider the security outfit established by a prominent Ijaw leader, Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo to be complementing the security agencies in curbing insecurity within the Emohua/Degema axis and other parts of the country.
“We commend Alhaji Dokubo security outfit for saving lives and properties, ensuring sanity along the Ikwerre /Kalabari routes. The singular move by Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo should be applauded from all quarters as it’s for the general good and safety of our people.
“Alhaji Dokubo security outfit was not formed to cause chaos, but promoting peace and safety of the lives and properties, the security outfit is helping to provide security, maintain law and order, as well as providing enabling environment for investors and business community across the area.
“MOSIEND had advocated for community policing to curb all forms of criminalities in the state and beyond. We admonish politicians and crisis merchants not to stoke fire in the polity or fan the ember of disunity amongst two brothers.
“MOSIEND also appeal to our leaders to be mindful of their advises to the governor, because the peace, unity and progress of the state is non-negotiable.”
