It has become a trend for Nigerian celebrities to record videos of themselves having sex and releasing it to the public through their different social media handles.
Social media have been divided as different tapes of the fast rising singer, Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman popularly known as Oxlade, have been leaked on several micro blogging sites. The video was leaked via the social media platform, SnapChat. Oxlade who became popular at 22 after his hit single OJUJU has been trending for wrong reasons.
This is not the first time a top Nigerian artiste is becoming a subject of such controversy. In October 2021, Tiwa Savage was also involved in a sex tape scandal that went viral online. She became the major topic then.
She had earlier announced on her social media handles that someone was blackmailing her with her old sex tapes. This video got tongues wagging; she was slammed on social media and was accused of being a bad role model to young girls and a bad mother to her son.
Some persons are not happy about this and are demanding that oxlade be giving the same treatment Tiwa received when she was blackmailed.
Media personality, Daddy Freeze, condemned the release of the videos, saying, “Can you guys please, please stop recording these tapes? Seeing celebs have coitus is irritating to some of us.”
Some other social media personalities have accused Nigerians of having double standards; praising a man for the same sin they bashed a woman for. They rebuked Oxlade for using the energy meant for dropping hit songs to make a sex tape.
Nigerian celebrity Morey Faith said “old woman, that is why she couldn’t keep her marriage, she no get shame. Same people that dragged Tiwa Savage are cruising over a man’s sex tape. The hypocrisy and double standards are alarming.”
