It is becoming doubtful if the former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike will make the list of ministerial nominees. While it has been reported that the nation’s security police, the DSS, did not clear him for the appointment, it is also speculated that Wike may have been rejected because of pressure from APC chieftains.

The APC chieftains who are not comfortable with Wike’s nomination are of the view that the former governor was not a member of the APC and was causing confusion in the Rivers State chapter of the party, with his subtle moves to take over leadership of the party in the state.

It was also learnt that some allies of the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu were not comfortable with Wike as minister, considering his style and carriage. Some have even said that the DSS perspective may just be an excuse.

Wike, according to his antagonists, is very overbearing and could become a problem for the Tinubu government. They have also argued that considering the way he turned against and frustrated his party, the PDP, he could not be trusted to remain loyal if his interest was threatened.
