Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Cross River state have described the emergence of Senator Matthew Mbu Jnr as the leader of the party in the state as a timely intervention from God; while at the same time revealing their high expectations from him.
Speaking with TNN over the telephone, APC State Vice chairman for Cross River Central, Vodina Enya lauded the National Executive Committee, NEC of the party for the formidable role they played in restoring peace to APC Cross River. “As a matter of fact, what happened in Abuja is a prayer answered. As a party we’ve been longing for a day like this and God made it possible.
“Distinguished Senator Matthew Mbu is a politician to the core and he knows what it means to run a party. So I think it is a welcome development and I’m happy with it. The prayers of well meaning APC members in Cross River were answered”, Vodina expressed. He encouraged him to immediately ensure that the two factions of the party in the state become one formidable party that can stand any election in the state.
Expressing his appreciation to the leadership of the party in the state, another stakeholder, Chucks Agube said the leadership of the party in the state had just demonstrated a heart that prays and submits to God Almighty which finds fulfilment, peace and security even in the midst of challenges. He said, “The APC Stakeholders have taken a stand and have resolved to do what is right for the sake of the party and Cross Riverians. Only a deep seated mind would understand what our leaders have done for us.
“The fact that none of the factions was privy to the outcome of the decision makes it even more satisfying. I therefore respect the brokers of this deal. They deserve a Gold Merit Award. Truly, the ultimate hallmark of leadership is the provision of concrete answers or solutions to the problems of the people they lead. Over the years, we have been praying for a leadership that would be upfront and honest with its intention.
“The enthronement of a new chairman for APC Cross River State is practically necessary if we are to have our collective interest pursued and realized. With this development, I am convinced that we can truly have a party that can win elections,” stressed. Agube further described the new leader as a man who has the fatherly disposition to marry the interest of all party members to the satisfaction of all.
“In view of his Political Profile and trajectory, evidence abounds that his entry can sway a number of persons from the opposition party to APC Cross River State”, he added.
Mbu’s emergence as the Chairman of the party came after the party’s CTC several meetings with the critical stakeholders of the party.
