LG Polls To Hold In C’River Nov 2

A new date has been taken for the conduct of local government elections in Cross River State. Instead of October 26, the election will now hold on November 2, according to a new schedule of activities released by the state electoral commission.

The electoral umpire, CROSIEC, had come under attacks by some opposition political parties, including the PDP, which insisted that the commission did not comply with the law in fixing the date.

According to the new schedule of activities, a copy of which TNN got on Friday, presentation of list of candidates, including the collection, completion and return of CROSIEC form LGE 001 AND 002 and other forms will run from October 8 to 13.

Process and validation of final nomination particulars of candidates will now take place on October 14, while the publication of final particulars will be on October 20.

The new schedule was signed by the chairman, Dr Ekong Edet Boco.
