The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has restated the commitment of his administration to giving priority attention to women empowerment and their active participation in governance.

Fubara stated this on Friday, in line with the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day celebration, which is to inspire inclusion.

He explained that, “the slogan of “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” couldn’t be more apt than as at right now.”

The governor who congratulated women all over the world in celebration of the 2024 International Women’s Day, described them as unique creations and formidable assets endowed with the grace and capacity to foster peace and development in society.

While highlighting the fundamental position women occupy in the development of any society, he commended Rivers women over what he described as their unwavering support to his administration.

The governor urged them not to rest on their oars but to continue to pray for the peace of the state and play their motherly role to save the society from moral decay and rot.
