In Rare Show of Loyalty, Fubara Extends Wike’s Reign in Rivers

1 min read

Less than 24 hours after his public pledge to work with Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in his governance of Rivers State, the new governor, Sim Fubara has stylishly extended the days of Wike’s reign, with the nomination of four  persons who held key positions as commissioners in the immediate past government.

On Monday night during the inauguration banquet, Fubara had vowed to show maximum loyalty and respect to the man who made him governor. In fact, he said in doing so, he did not care what anybody would think or say and owed nobody any apologies.

On Tuesday, he sent the names of four core players in Wike’s team to the state house of assembly, for approval. The nominees whose names were announced today, are to appear before the lawmakers same today, something that has not happened before.

The nominees who would expectedly be screened and cleared today are Professor Zaccheaus Adangor, SAN, Dr Dakorinama George-Kelly, Isaac Kamalu and Professor Chinedu Mmon.

If nothing changes, the quartet may even be sworn-in later today or latest tomorrow and may be back in the ministries they left last week. Adango was and may return as commissioner for justice.

George-Kelly, the immediate past commissioner for works, is also likely to return to his office, just as Kamalu may be back as commissioner for finance as well as Mmon who is also likely to be back as education commissioner. The four ministries are considered Grade A ministries.
