The Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has appealed to the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, to accelerate negotiation process and dialogue with the All Progressives Congress, APC, led federal government for the release of ‘Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’.
The youth socio-cultural organization through her national president, Mr. Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, described the Uzodinma as a formidable voice for a political solution to Kanu’s case with federal government.
Igboayaka in a release he titled, “Expedite Release of Nnamdi Kanu, Ohanaeze Youths Beckon” lamented that, “the continuous detention of Kanu since June last year had instead of yielding political solution, rather birthed political instability and crisis confronting Nigeria, as well as political tension.”
He implored the Imo State governor to disregard all manners of blackmail, criticisms against him and, or his APC led government, by those he described as “uninformed IPOB members”, and facilitate the freedom of the Biafra agitator.
The youth council leader also urged the governor to imbibe the spirit of ‘Onuru Ube Nwanne Agbala Oso‘ that is, be your brother’s keeper, stressing that the era of apportioning blames should be abolished.
According to him, “over the months, our consultation and inquiries shows that governor Hope Uzodinma has every capacity and political network for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. Just as Justice Benson Anya of Umuahia High Court has opined that political solution remained the only viable option in the case of Nnamdi Kanu with the federal government. It’s therefore, a call of duty on governor Uzodinma, to put every mercenary on ground for a speedy release of his brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“It’s time for governor Hope Uzodinma to disregard every blackmail against him and his government by uninformed IPOB members, but consider so dearly the spirit of “Onuru ube nwanne agbala oso” and see Nnamdi Kanu’s release as his official and social responsibility.
“We have passed the stage of who is right or who is Wrong, our right and wrong should be kept aside to consider the peace of Southeastern, as blame game can’t lead us to anywhere. we must, therefore, arrive at this political solution for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
He continued that, “it’s important that governor Hope Uzodinma teams up with certain personalities in AlaIgbo and Nigeria at large to lead and reintegrate Igbo youths and pro-Biafran to national discuss with dialogue.”
Igboayaka further appealed to the governor to intervene and stop any forceful approach against IPOB by the federal government, adding that, “I think this is what M. I Opara could have done if he was alive, he can’t watch Southeast turning to a deserted economic region.
“Governor Hope Uzodinma should also set a Committee of ‘Panel of Inquiry’ for all killings of Igbo youths that took place in Imo state and beyond since the time he came into power, and design a means of compensation to those that lost their beloved ones, the Police officers and civilians that lost their lives”, Igboayaka concluded.
