I Left PDP Because My Spirit Is No More There – Ogbia Councillor
2 min readThe Councillor representing Ward 7 in the Ogbia Local Government Legislative Assembly, Mr. Afenenaso Patrick has given reasons why he dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) two days to the Bayelsa state governorship election.
It could be recalled that Patrick was among the 105 councillors elected on August 10 on the platform of the PDP in Bayelsa state in a controversial fashion.
Speaking to TNN in Yenagoa after his defection to the APC, the local government lawmaker revealed that he decided to quit his former party because his spirit, body and soul had left the PDP.
He said “yes. It is true that I defected from the PDP to APC. I am now a full member of the APC, l am no longer with the PDP.”
Asked what prompted his decision to leave the party under which platform he was elected, Patrick said “actually, life is about choice. Sometimes we make choices.
“The PDP too has been good to me. It’s a nice family, with the boss l have worked with, but live is a choice. In politics, there is no permanent enemy, there is no permanent friend.
“The reason is that I just wanted to please my spirit. My spirit is no longer with the PDP. Let me refresh myself in the All Progressives Congress.”
It could be recalled that the election that brought the current set of local government chairmen and councillors in Bayelsa state was adjudged by many observers as largely fraught with irregularities.
