Havoc In Calabar As Rainfall Renders Residents Helpless

Residents of Calabar, the Cross River state capital are still counting their loses following a heavy downpour in the city which lasted over an hour, destroying properties worth hundreds of thousands.

TNN reports that many vehicles were seen damaged in Calabar Municipal axis as a result of the wind which uprooted some of the trees planted on the streets of the city.

Apart from the trees, TNN also cited the falling down of a gigantic billboard stand along Calabar road which totally barricaded movement from Watt roundabout to Murtala Mohammed Highway while it was same along Cultural centre where a bus was smashed by a tree, affecting vehicular movement.

Meanwhile, there were reports of many damages, including some parts of the cultural center fence, University of Calabar as well as other buildings and shops. It was also reported that flood buried most vehicles and homes along parliamentary road.

As at the time of filling this report, it was not ascertained whether there was any life lost.
