With a few days left before the governorship election in Cross River State, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Prof Sandy Onor is getting more supports, including Monday’s endorsement from the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, during the February 25 election, Mr Peter Obi.
Even before Obi’s open endorsement of Onor in a live television programme, the LP candidate for the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency election, Mr John Ifere, had mobilised hundreds of his followers to declare support for the senator who represents the Cross River Central senatorial district.
Apart from the support by the top leadership of the LP, popularly called Obidients, artisans and drivers’ union in the central and northern parts of the state, have also endorsed Onor.

However, a chieftain of the APC in the state, Mr Vodina Enya believes that Prince Bassey Otu, the candidate of his party, was better placed to win this Saturday’s election because he was the best gift to the state from the current governor, Prof Ben Ayade.

But his position runs against the thinking of Mr Agba Jalingo, a blogger and serial opponent of Ayade, who has prepared a catalogue of Ayade’s failed promises during his first and second term.
