Group Plans To Train 10,000 A’Ibom Youths In Various Crafts

Before the end of this year, some 10,000 youths of Akwa Ibom State are to be equipped with various skills, including tailoring, shoe making, makeover, catering, courtesy of the free skills acquisition training initiative of The New Breed For Sustainable Development.

Last weekend, the first batch of 330 trainees graduated from the programme. Those who excelled at the training were rewarded with starter packs by the Non Governmental Organisation.

The group’s core mandate, according to a statement by Cristo Kufre Ekpoh, is to mobilize Akwa Ibom youths for sustainable development in line with the Dakkada philosophy of the state governor, Udom Emmanuel.

Affirming the commencement of training for the second batch of trainees, Kufre-Ekpoh said “as we had stated earlier during the flag off of our training program earlier this year,  the New Breed is targeting the training of 10,000 Akwa Ibom youths in various vocational skills and we are glad to inform that the first batch of successful trainees numbering 330 will be given starter packs including, laptops, sewing machines, make-over kits and professional make up boxes amongst other items to enable them set up their businesses and be economically independent.

“We also wish to inform that training for the second batch of trainees has commenced, and will continue in batches till the target of 10,000 Akwa Ibom entrepreneurs is achieved.”
