Worried by the level of hardship in the country, a group in Rivers state, the Beloved Foundation and Orphanage has introduced a free feeding and medical programme for dwellers in the Eligbolo community of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Nigerians have been going through so much in the recent past, largely because of fuel and naira notes scarcity. Even those who have money in the bank are unable to access them, especially those in the rural areas.
The group believes that reaching out to the rural people will help cushion the biting effects of the harsh economy. Founder of the organisation, Beloved Greatness said about 200 people have been reached in the community so far.
She said those who benefitted got food and medical attention as well as scholarship to enable their children go to school.
She told TNN in an interview that “I pastor in one of the rural area in Port Harcourt and I saw a lot of people who could not eat and some people who could not afford as simple as the government’s medical care.

“So I came up with feeding them and taking care of their medical bills and also, I gave out few scholarships to some children in the community. I took permission from the king of the community and the youths of the community and they were able to hit town criers for these people to come out and receive what I wanted to offer to them.”
“What motivated me was that I saw them and they were helpless because you know how things are in this country now; things are very tough. I said, let me go and help them so that they don’t die of high blood pressure.”
