As part of efforts to strengthen the operations of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, in Rivers State, the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has donated a Hilux Vehicle to NYSC South South Area Office II, Port Harcourt.
This donation was in response to the appeal made by the Director General of the NYSC, Brig-Gen OO Nafiu, who during a courtesy visit to Fubara, urged him to donate operational vehicle to the SSAO II to enhance its operational efficiency.
Secretary to the state government, Dr Benibo Anabraba, who officially handed over the vehicle to the Acting Director, NYSC South South Area Office II, Port Harcourt, Mr. Philip Enaberue, on Tuesday, poured encomium on NYSC for positively impacting the lives of the people of the state.
Anabraba who is also the Chairman NYSC Rivers State Governing Board, said “NYSC scheme contributes a lot to the growth and development of Rivers State.
“The scheme stands out and is placed in a vantage position to gain the full support and attention of Fubara’s administration.
“The state government is pleased with the activities of NYSC and corps members in growing and developing the state. This has been a huge motivation for the state government to intervene in the scheme’s areas of need, especially, the regular payment of state allowance to all corps members in the state.
“Also, the ongoing massive renovation of camp facilities, commitment to build two new hostels for boys and girls with each to accommodate at least, 1000 persons, the donation of office accommodation to the SSAO II, donation of two plots of land to build a befitting state coordinator’s lodge, design to construct a new state secretariat complex amongst other areas of intervention.”
Anabraba was joined in the occasion by his Permanent Secretary, Special Services Bureau Mr. Sam Dede, while the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe joined the Enaberue to receive the donation.
