Ex-Agitator Sets Agenda For Incoming IYC President

The 21st Century Youth of the Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience has made known what they describe as their acceptable standards for the next Ijaw Youth Council, IYC President.
The Niger Delta group also expressed dismay over previous incidents which erupted in the IYC, which they said affected the peaceful existence of the IYC, and also obstructed progress and effective representation.
Speaking with TNN in an exclusive interview, leader of the group, Izon Ebi, stated that “the 21st Century Youth of the Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience has been silent, watching the activities of the present Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, and must confess that we are not impressed.
“We want to use this medium to sound it very clear that we are not impressed with the factionalization of the IYC and also frown at the recent ugly incident that cost the lives of our youths in the just concluded zonal convention.
“The IYC is a body that gives millions of Ijaw youths hope of actualizing the dreams of our founding fathers for resource control and self determination. But what we are seeing in the current situation is so pathetic and every hand must be on deck because this factionalism is the handwork of our enemies.
“The shameful and sad incident that led to the death of our youths in the last zonal convention must not repeat itself in the history of IYC because it will not be tolerated any longer by the outstanding, innovative and intelligent youths of the Ijaw nation.”
Izon further called on leaders of the Ijaw nations to have a rethink and save the pathetic situation in the IYC and do everything possible to assist the IYC to get it right this time around because the Ijaw nation is at a cross road in the history of this nation and the politics of the Niger Delta.
