Etche Chair To Build Corpers’ Lodge For Lack Of Accommodation

Worried by the lack of accommodation for corps members posted to his LGA, the Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Mr. Uzodinma Nwafor, has announced his readiness to build a 50-rooms self-contained Corpers’ Lodge.
Nwafor made this promise when corps members paid a courtesy visit to his office, as revealed in a release made available to TNN on Wednesday, by the Head, Information and Public Relations
NYSC Rivers, Mr. Christian Okereke.
In his address, the Etche council chairman expressed disappointment over the lack of official corps lodge for corps members in Etche over the years.
He assured them that the situation which he described as ugly narrative would be rewritten by his administration soon.
Speaking further, Nwafor extolled the qualities of corpers serving in the LGA whom he described as “strategic partners in Etche transformation agenda” of his administration especially in the areas of education, agriculture, primary healthcare and rural infrastructure.
Earlier, the Local Government Inspector of Etche LGA, Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwudi, commended the chairman, adding that “the corpers will soon heave a sign a relief from perennial acute shortage of accommodation.”
Chukwudi who spoke on behalf of the State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, staff and corps members also congratulated the new chairman on his victory at the polls.
She used the occasion to appeal to the chairman to build a befitting corpers’ lodge for corps members serving in the LGA in order to reduce acute accommodation challenges faced by them.
She also thanked the chairman for what she described as his “fatherly love and favorable disposition towards the affairs of Corps Members especially, their welfare and security.”
