Panic In Ahoada As Death Toll Rises

Residents and natives of Ahoada Local Government Area of Rivers State, have expressed fear following another killing in the area.

Recall that around two am on Sunday, TNN reported that five persons were killed by unknown gunmen who invaded Edeoha Community, Upata Kingdom in the LGA.

The next day, Monday, residents of Ula-Ehudu Community, in Igbu Akoh Kingdom, woke up to behold two dead bodies with bullet wounds at Odiokwu junction.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Igbu-Akoh Kingdom Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hector Chinem said, “yes it’s true, at Odiokwu junction in Ula-Ehudu Community, in Igbu Akoh Kingdom in Ahoada East Local Government, early this morning(Monday) we woke up only for us to see two able youths gunned down by gun bullet and we don’t know the people.

“As we speak to you, just barely 24hours that five persons were killed in Edeoha Community and just of recently we discovered two dead bodies early this morning.

“Last night, we saw some group of youths moving around with coverall, company coverall blue, and with this Army wear and we don’t know whether it’s them because we thought that this insecurity has been made to rest, we never knew that some of these remnants have woken up again to disturb the peace of the place.”

In his save our soul message to the state Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Mohammed, Chinem said, “we are calling this new CP to swing into action. Just barely 24 hours we have lost close to seven souls.”

To the youths, the PRO charged them to lay down their arms, stressing that, “nobody is fighting with anybody and we are reducing every day and that is why we are pleading that this new CP should swing into action because we believe that if he swings into action all these things will reduce.”
