As the Muslim community in Bayelsa State joins the rest of the world to celebrate their 2026 Eid-el-Kabir, and as the State marks Children’s Day celebration, the State Commissioner of Police, Daniel Iyamah has assured adequate security of life and prosperity during the events.
The commissioner, while felicitating Muslim faithful and children across the state, he urged the celebrants to commemorate without fear of intimidation or harassment from any quarters, maintaining that the State command has put in place effective security measures to ensure seamless celebrations.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Musa Mohammed, the CP described the twin celebrations as significant and urged residents to celebrate in the true spirit of peace, sacrifice, unity, and responsible conduct.
“In line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the command has intensified statewide security operations and deployed personnel and operational assets across nooks and crannies to ensure hitch-free celebrations.
The deployment includes Police Mobile Force, Intelligence Units, Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Marine Police, Divisions, Special Drone Unit, and Traffic Teams to strategically position across the State,” the commissioner said.
Iyamah directed all units to intensify visibility policing, intelligence gathering, patrols, and proactive crime prevention measures.
The statement noted that security personnel have also been strategically stationed at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centers, markets, motor parks, waterways, and other major public places to ensure adequate security coverage throughout the festive period.
He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to sustaining the peace and guaranteeing social harmony while urging citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and security-conscious by reporting suspicious persons and activities promptly.
He further warned criminal elements to steer clear of unlawful acts as the command remained fully prepared to deal decisively with all forms of criminality.
The command wished Muslim faithful a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration and children a joyful children’s day celebration.
