Demise of A’Ibom First Lady Shocking, Says Ibibio Elders Forum

The Ibibio Elders Forum, also known as Adaha Ibibio Leadership Initiative, has described as shocking and surprising, the passing of the first lady of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno.
Late Mrs Umo Eno whose demise was announced in a press release by the state government, reportedly died on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
Onbehalf of the Ibibio Elders Forum, Chairman of the group, Dr. Emmanuel Akpanobong and the secretary-general, Prof. Etok Ekanem, expressed sympathy towards the family and people of the state.
A statement made available to TNN by the Forum read “like the rest of Akwa Ibom State, her people and the Nigerian public at large, Ibibio Elders Forum received with profound shock and surprise the news of the unexpected death and passing of Her Excellency Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno, the wife of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.
“The very sad event, which a press release issued by the Akwa Ibom State Government on September 27, 2024, indicates occurred September 26, 2024, has expectedly, thrown the entire Akwa Ibom State and her people into a very deep mourning. The First Lady’s demise has indeed brought about a tremendous negative mood swing amongst the people across the State.
“Ibibio Elders Forum deeply mourns the sudden departure of the late Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno from this life and prays that God receives and grants her soul eternal peace and rest in His nearer presence, even as we thank Him (the Creator) for the life and times of this amiable and noble woman in the Earthrealm.
“The Forum also condoles with her husband, His Excellency, the Governor, his family and the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State over this extremely untoward incident. May the LORD console, comfort, and strengthen him, the family, the entire State, and her people in this particularly trying time.
“It is the prayer of Ibibio Elders Forum that the unfortunate incident of the loss of his wife, the First Lady, will not excessively weigh down His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno in the discharge of his duties, functions and responsibilities as the Governor of our State. May God continue to keep and uphold him and the State.”
