Bayelsa PDP Guber Ticket: Alaibe Says No Going Back On Court Case

2 min read

There are emerging indications that a former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission who also contested for the ticket of the PDP for the governorship of Bayelsa State, Chief Ndutimi Alaibe has vowed to pursue his case against the PDP and Senator Douye Diri, the governor of Bayelsa State, to its logical end.
This is coming even as the PDP and the new governor are mounting pressure on Alaibe to drop the case and join hands with the new government to enable it succeed.
On Sunday, Diri had addressed journalists in Abuja where he said that efforts were being made to reach Alaibe to shift grounds and abandon the case he filed against the processes that led to his nomination as candidate of the PDP for the November 16, 2019 election.
But TNN learnt that Alaibe has vowed to fight on. It was learnt that Alaibe was ignoring calls from PDP chieftains and others who were trying to reach him on the matter.
A top PDP chieftain confided in TNN on Sunday night that Alaibe had already made up his mind to pursue the case until justice was served.
He said “I can confirm to you that they are trying to reach Timi. Many people are calling him but he is ignoring their calls. He looks ready and willing to pursue the case to the end.”
One of Alaibe’s aides has also confirmed to TNN that the former NDDC boss was not in the mood to accept anything that would lead to him dumping the case.
What it means is that if Alaibe’s case succeeds, it may lead to the cancellation of the primaries that produced Diri as candidate of the PDP. That would also mean that Diri would be ousted.
TNN has been calling Alaibe’s lines for about two weeks now but he would not take the calls, neither has he responded to text messages sent to him, a development that the aide said was part of the deliberate intention not to talk to people he felt may push him into disclosing what his mindset on the matter is.
