Scores of potential voters in Opu Nembe, Bayelsa State, are very likely going to be disenfranchised as Bayelsa people go the poll to choose a new governor on Saturday.
TNN had earlier reported the tension in Opu Nembe, popularly called Nembe Bassambiri, where some youths believed to be loyal to the APC, have been accused of preventing the returning natives from entering their homes.

The situation has become a source of concern for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They have already alerted INEC to developments in the area and have warned that there may be fake results from Nembe and that the party would not accept it, as things stand today.
The party in a statement issued on Friday night by its Publicity Secretary, Ebiye Ogoli, said thugs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in cahoots with the police Strategic Weapons and Tactical (SWAT) team deployed in the community by the Inspector General of Police, have prevented its members and supporters earlier chased out of the community from returning home.
“The PDP hereby puts INEC on notice that if its members are disenfranchised in Bassambiri or any other community on account of being prevented from entering their hometown, election results emanating from such communities will not be acceptable to the party.”
State chairman of the APC, Dr Dennis Otiotio did not respond to our calls as at press time on Friday night.
