A former Niger Delta freedom fighter, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, has boosted the efforts of the Degema branch of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, towards the construction of its secretariat, with a donation of N25m for the project.
Asari, who is also the Amanyanabo of the Source (Elem Kalabari, Torusarama-piri), Da Amakiri made the donation through the Head of Legal Services of the Royal Fouche Services Ltd and Legal Adviser of Elem Kalabari Community, Se-Alabo Igbikikonte Samuel Suku.
In making the donation, the outspoken monarch said the gesture was a demonstration of the his support for the actualization of an efficient judicial system, where social justice and the rule of law would be upheld.
A statement by Daerefa-a Christopher Braide, his chief press secretary and palace spokesman quoted Asari as also commending the leadership of the Degema branch of the NBA for the milestone recorded.
He urged them to remain firm and impartial as the bastions of the rule of law in the society, maintaining that for democracy to thrive in Nigeria, the judiciary must play a pivotal role.
