Youths in Rivers State have accused the governor, Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara of abandoning the 10,000 youths’ employment initiated by his predecessor, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

While stating their grievances, the youths expressed their readiness to occupy the state government house if the governor fails to heed to their plea to immediately commence the process.

Speaking in an interview with TNN, the deputy chairman of a faction of the National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN, Rivers State, Mr. LeggJack Bright, pleaded with Fubara to critically consider the employment as a way of ending youth restiveness and their involvement in crime related activities.

LeggJack, who expressed the belief that the recruitment process for the 10,000 youths’ employment carried out under Wike’s administration was genuine, asserted that it cut across the entire 23 local government areas of the state.

In his words to the governor, the NYCN deputy chairman of Mr. Chimenem Bobo Worlu’s led faction, said, “the 10,000 jobs that the past administration gave to Rivers people, please we need it.

“You came onboard, you scrapped it with the excuse that there is a lot of over-aged, please we believe that we are in a *JET* world, we believe that the system can extract those that are over-aged.

“You initiated another employment which is not going down to the people. Please, the past administration gave employment, it was unit by unit, cutting across all local governments in Rivers State, all wards in the state, please come back with that employment.”

He added that, “failure to do that Rivers State youths will take action, we will occupy the state.”

Also speaking, a youth coordinator from Emohua Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Okachi Destiny, noted that “my grievance is that before the election we worked, we campaigned for this government and after the oath of office by the governor, Siminalayi Joseph Fubara, it was a surprising thing that the employment that was carried out by the previous administration he abandoned it and some he cancelled.

“He is doing a different thing instead of him to do the right thing, that is our grievance, especially I, myself, I am very aggrieved.

“We are urging him to go back to the slate because before the election the former governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike told us that we should go to our various units and defend our votes so that Fubara will emerge as the governor, after everything we are seeing a different thing, it’s like a 419, so that is my stand.”

Reacting to the question of what will be their next point of call if the governor fails to heed to their plea, he said, “well, I am from Ikwerre like I said earlier, I am from Emohua, the Rivers Youth under the watch of ambassador Chimenem Worlu I think will take a match to government house.”
