In a significant development for Christian evangelism in Nigeria, gospel ministers from Akwa Ibom and Cross River States have formed a new association called AkwaCross Ministers in Diaspora.
The association aims to unite and support South-South ministers serving outside their home states, had its maiden crusade and inauguration of national executive officers in Agbarho, Delta State.

The event was led by the association’s President-General, Sandy Elijah, who emphasized the mission of mobilizing ministers from Akwa Ibom and Cross River States in diaspora to spread the gospel more effectively.
Citing Matthew 9:37, he called for renewed commitment and collaboration among members, highlighting the importance of unity and cooperation in fulfilling their calling.
Elijah encouraged ministers to adopt new methods, expand their workforce, and partner with other churches to achieve their goals, stressing the importance of service to others, quoting Mahatma Gandhi: “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
The association’s national executive committee was inaugurated during the event, with Elijah as President-General and other prominent ministers holding key positions.
The committee include Utibe Ataga as Vice President-General, Ekemini Mbosowo Akpan as Warri Chapter President, and Godwin Umoren as Treasurer, among others.
The AkwaCross Ministers in Diaspora plans to organize regular outreach programs, inter-church partnerships, and capacity-building initiatives to support ministers and local congregations across Nigeria.
