A youth leader in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, has lamented over the alarming rate of unemployment in the state.
Mr. Chimenem Bobo Worlu, who is a factional chairman of the state National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN, noted that if youths were meaningfully engaged, desperate politicians would not exploit them to cause mayhem in the state.

He emphasised the need for the state government to create employment opportunities for youths.
Worlu also called on private sectors and companies operating in the state to give jobs to the teeming population of jobless youths.
The former NYCN chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA lamented that many youths in the state are educated yet have been unemployed for years after graduating from high institutions.
“Many young people in Rivers State are highly educated, yet remain unemployed. I call for support for young entrepreneurs through grants, soft loans, and financial assistance.
“If our youths are meaningfully engaged desperate politicians will no longer exploit them for mayhem or unnecessary protests.”
He appealed to citizens and government officials to consult the youth council for accurate data on competent youths ready to fill employment slots.
Worlu expressed optimism that “positive actions would be taken, praying for a significant increase in youth employment.”
