Factional south-south secretary of the PDP who is also the point man of the FCT Minister in Bayelsa State, George Turner has threatened to lead a gang that will disrupt all political gatherings in the state if the event he is organizing under the umbrella of the NEW (Nyesom Ezenwo Wike) Associates is disrupted.
But a high court in the state had since ordered that the rally being promoted by the Wike Associates which was earlier scheduled for April 10, should not hold. The court had to renew the order when the rally was rescheduled.
Even though the tension that gripped the state in the first week of April had died down, there has been heightened fear, after Turnah assembled his supporters and loyalists and sensitized them to get ready to match violence for violence, if their rally suffers any setback on Saturday.
during the week, Turnah had also been presented as chairman of the PDP caretaker committee, an action that has since been dismissed by the leadership of the PDP at the national level.
At a meeting with his loyalists, Turnah who was visibly enraged fumed: “Let me put it on record, that any disruption of our programme on Saturday(April 26), that is traceable to those who support the governor, who have threatened our programme, if they carry out any such disruption, we have the capacity to ensure that till the end of the tenure of the governor, they will not hold in Bayelsa, any successful outing.
“Any gathering, that is public gathering, we will return the same disruption in equal proportion. We will do so boldly. Whatever they do to us on Saturday, we will do to them until they leave office.
“We will only spare state functions, for the respect we have for the office of the governor-Democracy Day, Independence Day, Armed Forces Remembrance Day; all of those official functions, we will support the government, but any programme that is political, we will disrupt every political programme they have until they leave office and I say so without any apology. We will do it boldly and we will take responsibility.”
