The Rivers State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Mr Moses Oleghe, has cautioned corps members deployed to the state for the 2026 Batch C Stream I against drug abuse, emphasising that their lives “matter a lot to Nigeria and their families.”
Oleghe gave this warning during a War Against Drug Abuse, WADA rally organised by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai.
The rally was aimed to educate corps members on the dangers of drug abuse.

The NYSC coordinator expressed concern over what he described as “agony, heartbreak, emotional and psychological torture parents and guardians face as a result of the harmful effects of drugs on their children and wards.”
He warned them against associating with friends and colleagues who might encourage them to engage in drug abuse, noting that its consequences were better imagined than felt.
The Head of NDLEA at the camp, James Effiong, described drug abuse as the “greatest cankerworm bedeviling the society today, especially amongst the youths.”
He urged the corps members to support the NDLEA’s efforts to eliminate the problem of drug abuse from society.
