2ND Emmanuel Edem Golf Tournament Ends In Calabar

The 2nd AVM Emmanuel Edem Open Golf Championship which attracted golfers across the country ended amid fanfare and excitements at the Calabar Golf Club with a-32-year old golfer, Joseph Moses from the IBB Golf Club Abuja emerging the winner.
Moses who started the game of golf in 2013 as a caddie was a cynosure of all eyes when he outwitted all the golfers in category one to end proceedings with a gross score of 154 over 36 holes.

The duo of Solomon Dominic and Bassey Edet of the Calabar Golf Club became the runner-up and the 1st runner-up winners respectively with 156 and 160 gross.
In category two, Daniel Okon from Ibom Golf Club Uyo outscored other golfers to emerge the champion with a score of 142 nett over 36 holes while E. Ezekiel of the host Club was the runner-up with a nett score of 144. Moses Friday was 3rd with 145 nett.

O. Adigun from Lagos was the winner in category three with a score of 142 nett.
Anietie Okon of the Calabar Golf Club garnered 158 nett over 36 hole to become the runner-up while Victor Idema from Python Golf Club, Port Harcourt came 3rd with 160 nett.
G. kwetishe of the Calabar Golf Club returned a nett score of 151 over 36 holes to clinch the title in category four. Sampson Onah also of the host Club came 2nd with 164 nett on count back while John Udosen from Ibom Golf Club Uyo was placed 3rd with 164 nett.

Veterans winner was Edem Oyo-Ita who recorded 145 nett our 36 hole.
Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Calabar Golf Club, P. K. Bello became the runner-up with 164 nett while Y. J. Gaje was 3rd with 165 nett.
In the Ladies category Osinachi E. from Arsenal Golf Club Owerri was the winner with 159 nett.

Ezinne Odionyenfe from Enugu Golf Club became the runner-up with a nett score of 167 over 36 holes while Gladness Archibong of the host Club was 3rd with 173 nett.
In his remarks during the presentation ceremony, captain of the Club, AVM Eko Osim (rtd) showered praises on the sponsor of the competition, Mrs. Bernadette Edem (mni), wife of late AVM Emmanuel Edem for immortalizing her late husband through the big golf championship.
The captain who was represented by the vice Captain and Chairman Tombola section of the Club Maj. Gen. A. M. Sabo (rtd) thanked the members and all the golfers who came from far and near to be part of history.

He lauded Mrs. Bernadette Edem for her great effort to honour the late icon through the annual golf competition.
He prayed the Almighty God to protect her and give her the wherewithal to sustain the annual golf tournament aimed at honouring her late husband.
Also speaking, chairman planning committee of the competition, Mr. Igbe Aruku (mni) said that organizing the big tournament for the late Edem had been the best moment for him and other members.

He recalled that as the then captain of the club, he had close relationship with the late Edem who was the chairman, board of trustees of the club for the role he played as regards the sustenance and other logistics to keep the course playable all the year round.
