Action Alliance gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State, Adawari George has expressed disappointment in the way and manner security agencies and INEC handled the processes leading to and after the 2023 elections.
He has also expressed serious concern over unfolding events in Rivers State after the elections. He said in a statement in Port Harcourt that those behind the violent activities in the state were hurting innocent people in the state.
He said: “The quest for political offices must remain a civil, persuasive engagement and not a ceaseless confrontation. The people and their welfare must remain the ultimate goal of all.
“We take serious exceptions to the actions and inactions of INEC and the Security Agencies who fell short of citizens’ expectations in the management of the electoral process. As an umpire in the electoral process, INEC should demonstrate impartiality in the discharge of their responsibilities while the security agencies should rise to the challenge of reining in the excesses of politicians.
“To do otherwise will not only be adding salt to injury but an open invitation to anarchy. This would be a great disservice to our dear State. I strongly urge all contending parties to pursue the quest for political power with decorum. For, posterity will not forgive those who put Rivers State under constant, undeserving siege.”
