Sources said the governor has been receiving delegations from the north on the issue and that it was also an issue of discourse before the governor’s defection from the PDP to the APC.
Among those who are talking to the governor, according to sources, are some sitting governors from the north as well as some key politicians from that region who believe that Ayade what it takes to lead Nigeria.

It is not clear whether the issue was part of what Ayade discussed with President Muhammadu Buhari during his visit to the Presidential Villa last week.
Ayade himself is said to have told some friends that he was giving some thought to the calls for him to contest the presidential election. But on the day of his defection to the APC, Ayade had said that he was joining the broom revolution because of his desire to join hands and support Buhari in moving the nation forward, a position that has been widely condemned by his critics.
