A former chapter executive member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Boki Local Government, Cross River State, Mr Emmanuel Tawo, has said that the APC, lacks the moral right to ask for votes in the coming 2023 elections in the state.

The former APC stalwart who switched his allegiance along with over 500 of his supporters to the Peoples Democratic Power, PDP, during a rally held at Boki Boys High School, Okundi, said the APC in Cross River lacked the moral justification to solicit votes in the state, given the abysmal performance of Governor Ben Ayade since 2015.

Tawo urged the APC should always enumerate the achievements of Governor Ben Ayade while canvassing for votes from the electorate in the build up to 2023 elections rather than resorting to the “back to south” slogan as a campaign mantra.

“The prospect of APC producing the next governor of our state was bright until they welcomed a sitting governor with diminishing electoral value into the party. Worst still is the fact most members of Ayade’s contingent who crossed with him and are now standard bearers of the APC have not created the needed impact in their localities to secure electoral votes when compared to their credible heavyweights opponents in the PDP”

Tawo who spoke on behalf of the defectors attributed their reasons for dumping the ruling party to lack of passion and sincerity of purpose in the party especially in Cross River towards the plight of the state and its people

Receiving the new intakes, the state chairman of the PDP, Vena Ikem expressed delight over the mass exodus from APC to the PDP across the state, describing the development as a testament that only the PDP can salvage the state from its present parlous state.
In his words” We need every Cross Riverians to come on board and team up with the PDP in the reclaim procession to salvage the state from the ongoing steady vandalization of our common heritage by our heartless government with no human empathy’
