For allegedly killing her co-wife with a pestle, 33 years old Hauwa’u Haruna has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police command.
Her arrest was revealed in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, who noted that Haruna was arrested and the pestle allegedly used in the attack was recovered.
Habib also stated that the domestic incident happened at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate, explaining that Haruna who happens to be the second wife, struck her co-wife, 43-years-old Jamila Adamu, on the forehead.
The PPRO revealed that the victim lost consciousness. She was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.
According to Habib, “the incident occurred around 4:05pm on September 27, 2026, after the C-Division, Bauchi, received a report of a domestic incident involving the two women.
“Preliminary investigation indicated that Hauwa’u, the second wife, allegedly picked up a pestle and struck Jamila, 43, on the forehead, causing her to lose consciousness.
“The scene was documented, and the victim was rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where she was certified dead by a medical doctor. Her corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
“The suspect was arrested, while the pestle allegedly used in the attack was recovered as an exhibit.”
He further stated that “the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.
“The CP condoles with the bereaved family and cautions the public against domestic violence, while advising families to seek timely medical and psychosocial support for members exhibiting mental health challenges.”
