Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has directed the state commissioner for Works, Dr. Dax George-Kelly Alabo, to as a matter of urgency, commence the rehabilitation of Celestine Omehia Road, formerly known as SARS Road, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

A statement by Dornubari Kiinee, the special assistant, media and documentation, to the commissioner for works noted that, “critical failed sections of the road will be reconstructed with composite pavement; that is, a combination of concrete (rigid) and asphalt (flexible) to avoid reoccurring of such dilapidation in the near future.”
It continued that, “the drainage system on both sides of the road will undergo cleaning and desilting because they have been heavily blocked by buildup of loose materials and obstruction.”
It further appealed to motorists to consider alternative routes around the axis during the short period of the rehabilitation work.
