When A Lawmaker Breaks Jinx, Illuminates Communities

In a remarkable feat of dedication and leadership, Dr Unyime Idem, the member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has successfully restored power supply to the constituency, ending over 15 years of darkness.

This milestone has brought joy and relief to residents, reviving economic activities and transforming communities.Idem’s initiative, which involved donating 25 high-capacity transformers to the 24 wards in the constituency, has begun to bear fruit.

The installation of these transformers has reconnected communities to the national grid, providing reliable electricity and sparking renewed economic growth. Small businesses are reopening and households can now enjoy basic amenities, improving overall quality of life.

The people of Ukanafun/Oruk Anam have long waited for this moment. For years, they endured the hardships of life without electricity, struggling to run businesses, access basic healthcare, and educate their children. But Idem’s intervention has brought an end to this dark period, ushering in a new era of prosperity.

The impact of restored power is palpable. Business owners, including those who run drinking joints and mini supermarkets, can now sell their goods without fear of spoilage. Students can study at night, and healthcare facilities can provide better services. The overall quality of life is getting better and residents are grateful to Idem for his efforts.

His constituents are impressed by his dedication and tangible results, making him a strong contender for re-election. Already, his people are eager to reward his efforts with their votes.

Idem’s achievement has also set a new standard for elected officials in Akwa Ibom State. It shows that with determination and a commitment to serving the people, even the most challenging problems can be solved. Other lawmakers are taking notice, and we expect to see more transformative projects in the state.

The restoration of power has also created opportunities for economic growth and development. Investors are showing interest in the constituency and new businesses are expected to spring up in the coming days and months. This is a welcome development, and residents are hopeful that their economic fortunes will continue to improve.

Idem’s feat is a reminder that effective leadership can change lives. His dedication to serving his constituents has earned him the respect and admiration of the people. Even his governor, Pastor Umo Eno, who prefers to call him The China Man, apparently because of the number of constituents Idem has sent to China for training and business exposure, holds him in high esteem.Expectedly, Idem is angling to return to the lower chamber of the House of Reps for a third term. Deservedly so, even though there are a few persons who have also shown the interest for the seat.

But those who have shown support for his next political move clearly outnumbers the naysayers. This is moreso because since 1999 when democracy returned to Nigeria, all the representatives from the constituency put together did not do half of what Idem has done for the people in less than seven years.

Idem is expected to build on his momentum, launching more development projects and engaging with his constituents. His goal is to continue serving the people and making a positive impact on their lives, according to reports.

We commend his courage and foresightedness in restoring power to his constituency who has been in darkness for over 15 years. This is despite all other development projects and programmes he has attracted to the area.

We believe that the people of Ukanafun/Oruk Anam will reward his dexterity and sacrificial representation by giving him all the support he needs to continue serving humanity in the years to come. Breaking the jinx of darkness the way he has done, is no mean feat that should go unrewarded.
