What You Didn’t Know About The Rapture (3)
2 min readContinued from part 2.
Finally, would it not be great to know what can absolutely guarantee anyone a participation in the rapture of the church? Aside water baptism, following our faith, one other thing needful for absolute assurance of eternal life, as stated by Christ, is: “… Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day… He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me and I in him… he who feeds on me will live because of me” (John 6:53-57). The Lord’s communion isn’t optional, it’s an integral necessity of our lifestyle in Christ. No one who has eaten his flesh and drank his blood shall be condemned (1 Corinthians 11:29-32 comp. Genesis 3:1-7; Romans 5:14-19).
Meanwhile, it is very important that the right elements, for this communion, should be used. During his last earthly feast of the Passover (feast of the unleavened bread) with his apostles, as: “… they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and break it, and gave it to the disciples and said, take, eat, this is my body” (Matthew 26:26). Note that Jesus said, ‘this is my body’; meaning that whatsoever he was holding (unleavened bread) is the representation of his body. So, substituting the yeast free bread (flat bread, crackers, or biscuits) with any other thing, isn’t the body of Christ.
Also speaking of his blood: “… he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, drink ye all of it. For this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine…” (Matthew 26:27-29).
Note that he also said, ‘this is my blood’; knowing that posterity would have had challenges identifying the content of the cup (his blood), he explained, ‘this fruit of the vine’ (grape wine) represents his blood shed for us. He is indeed mindful of us using the right elements (unleavened bread and grape wine) for the communion. So, to achieve the full benefits of the communion, we must do it rightly and as often as possible (1 Corinthians 11:20-32); it is also important to state that communion is for everyone, and it can be taken in the churches or privately (John 6:54; Acts 2:42-46; 20:7).
Therefore, regular participation in the communion of the table of the Lord is the absolute guarantee for taking part in the rapture of the church. However, in the midst of the gross darkness that will precede the rapture, while others will be trembling in fear, we must tremble in reverence; calling upon the name of the lord Jesus Christ, for all that will call upon his name on this great and awesome day shall be saved.
