What VP Told Otu Before Flying With C’River Rep To Abuja After Projects Inauguration In Calabar

Last week, the vice president, Senator Kashim Shettima was in Calabar, Cross River State, to inaugurate the state library which was renovated by Senator Bassey Otu, governor of the state, after it had been abandoned by successive governments.

The library complex was one of other projects that the vice president inaugurated while in Calabar. On arrival at the Magret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar, some top officials of the state government, as well as some members of the National Assembly were on hand to receive the vice president.

As protocol demands, the governor introduced the officials to Shettima as soon as he alighted from the airplane.

When he got to Mike Etaba, the member representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Otu had told Shettima that the lawmaker was one of the vibrant politicians in the state.

But Shettima was said to have quickly thrown a counter, even as he said Etaba was not as vibrant as Dr Alex Egbona, the member representing Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

By the time he got to Egbona, he was to bury his hands into that of Egbona, holding it very tight in a warm handshake, and then declared to the governor that Egbona was his best friend, to the chagrin of those who may not have known about the relationship they had enjoyed ever the years.

When he was done with the inauguration of all the projects, Shettima gave a signal to Egbona to

TNN learnt that even though Egbona was not prepared to leave Calabar that day, he had to join the vice president without getting back to his house.
