What Many Nigerians Don’t Know About Bayelsa Dep Gov

The media have been awashed, since Thursday afternoon, with news about the state of health of the depute governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewrudjakpor.

While some reported correctly, that he had a heart attack and was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit, ICU, of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, others reported that he was dead, even without any confirmation by either the state government or the family.

As at Thursday night, nobody could say what the real situation was.

But TNN can report that the deputy governor who enjoys dancing, is also known as Mr Proverbs because he hardly speaks for clear five minutes without introducing proverbs into the speech.

In one of his proverbs, Ewrudjakpor once said, “some people want to go to Heaven and refuse to die, but for me, I want to die and go to Heaven.”

Also speaking about death in one of his proverbs, he had once said that “a man who breaks coconut with his head may not live to eat from the coconut.”

The deputy governor also once said that ” he who does not exercise patience or caution while seeking money should not mock a prisoner.

“If you hope on another man’s cloth on Christmas day, pray very hard against disappointment.”

Only recently, Ewrudjakpor who represented the state governor, Senator Douye Diri at an event organised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, in Yenagoa, got a standing ovation after he delivered a speech that was partly extempore and laced with mind blowing proverbs.

The state government is expected to make an official statement about his state of health, in the coming hours.
