Wife of the Cross River State governor, Dr Linda Ayade has expressed confidence that Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, if elected, will implement beyond 50 per cent women affirmation action in the country.

Ayade’s wife made the statement in Calabar, at the south-south APC women’s rally on Saturday in Cross River State. She said the support rally for Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, was due to his gender friendly disposition.

“Our presidential candidate was with us and he emphasized to us that if voted into power, he will make sure that the efforts that women always make about the 35 per cent affirmation for women, he is not only going to do 35 per cent, but that he is going to go beyond 50 per cent. This was his promised to us.

“That was his promise to us and we definitely are going to hold him to that promise. I don’t think we are even going to hold him because we have his track record and he is a very gender friendly person and that is what attracts me to his candidacy.

“I believe that if he wins the forth coming election, Nigerian women will be generally happy for it, despite that both he and his running mate are not women, in any capacity that women can be engaged beyond 2023, we shall get a chunk of that.”

We don’t have issue of security bothering us, but however, we don’t take that for granted; the security chiefs in the state are going to do their best, to keep the situation just the way it is.”
