VC orders staff, students to vacate UNICAL library over explosive

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Cross River State, Prof Florence Obi, has ordered the immediate and total evacuation of staff, students and properties from the University main library.
This order is as a result of an explosive sound that rocked the university main library building, on Tuesday.
In a release titled: ‘Total Evacuation From The University Main Library’ made available to TNN by the registrar, Gabriel O. Egbe, the V.C explained that the explosive sound resulted to a crack in the building.
According to the release, “following report of an explosive sound that rocked the University of Calabar Main Library Building, yesterday, and the resultant effect of a crack in the building, the Vice Chancellor has directed an urgent and total evacuation from the building.
“Accordingly, staff and students are hereby directed to keep away from the university library building henceforth.”
The statement also directed the chief security officer and the university librarian to, “ensure the total evacuation of staff, students and all university properties out of the building with Immediate effect.
“The chief security officer is to seal up the building and ensure the security of any other university property that may be left behind.”
